Individual Psychotherapy

People use psychotherapy for various reasons; some would like to talk about difficult aspects of their lives and some use it to understand the difficulties they may be having in solving some of their problems. Many people experience counseling as a safe place to share their thoughts and feelings without judgment. Individual psychotherapy offers a safe setting for the disclosure of secrets, emotions and experiences that may be difficult to discuss.

In therapy you may talk about your concerns in great depth and how you may have tried to solve problems and issues. You may also explore how you deal with your emotions and challenging situations, self-care, stress management, time management, as well as the impact of earlier life experiences on your current attitudes, thoughts, and behavior.

Some of the issues that we can work on are:

  • Confusion about who you are, problems with identity
  • Feeling empty, lonely, abandoned, unable to maintain lasting relationships
  • Feeling afraid, panicky and stressed
  • Feeling in crisis or in a state of breakdown
  • Experiencing depression or suicidal feelings
  • Loss, bereavement, relationship breakdown
  • Relationship problems, abuse and trauma
  • Impact of problems at work, unemployment or bullying
